The challenge

How the blast chiller works
- Fully automatic loading of the blast chillers by the storage and retrieval machine (SRM)
- Depending on the product and container size, the individual pallet cooling time and temperature – determined by precise measurements – are stored in the article master of the logistics system; these can always be optimised or extended for new products
- Cooling the products to the individually specified temperature in a short time
- After picking up from the central I-point, the pallets are placed in front of the cooling coil
- Automatic switch-on and switch-off of the blast chillers
Cooling process
Yoghurt, milk and other products are cooled down to the individually specified temperature in a short time using a sophisticated system of blast chillers. Depending on the product and container size, the required cooling times were determined in precise measurements and stored in the article master of the logistics system. The pallets are picked up from the central I-point and placed in front of the cooling registers. The blast chillers switch on automatically. After half the cooling time has elapsed, the SRM places the pallets on an opposite blast chilling station, where they are flowed through from the other side. At the end of the blast chilling time, the pallet is loaded according to its further destination or continues its journey in the logistics rail.
